Winningest hand in pokerCan't Post

I'm sure this has been talked about before, but if there was a way to research
hand historys from online gaming sites, what do you think the winningest
starting hand would be?  Somehow I think it would be some suited connector or
one gapper.  I really doubt it would be one of the top ten hands.  Ideas?

Obviously AAKK ds has a great deal of preflop equtiy, but I think a
hand like AAJT ds would play better after the flop on a much wider
range of boards.

You did have a good bullshit answer for a bullshit question though.

At Limit Hold'em, AA wins the most money by far.

I would think it would be something like 10 8 suited or J 10 suited.  I just
don't think that it would be AA.

Over 60k hands, mine is QQ, followed closely by AA and KK. Just illustrates
a leak in my game...easier to get away
from queens when they are beat.

For me, in the 9K I have in PT, I've won most money on AK, greatest
percentage KK. If you have a leak with AA, I must have one with QQ,
because after a ferocious run of suckouts, I'm losing with it.

My winningest hands (hold em) are AA, KK, QQ, in that order.

Aces are both the strongest hand and the most played hand (never laid down
preflop). Lets not think to hard.

Actually, one of the first computer simulations of Hold Em found the Q7os
was the winningest hand. I will try to find info.

Re: Winningest hand in poker [In reply to]Can't Post

found this reference
Essentially to answer the question, it is the average hand in a study of
HEADS-UP hands

ie 84 hands are worse when heads up against Q7o
and 84 hands are better when heads up against Q7o

Hope that helps,

Welly

and this

First, I've never seen any solid explanation for why Q-7 offsuit is the
Computer Hand, but it's not because it's the "median" hand. At least
Gordon's explanation is plausible. Some people say that in a flawed
simulation Q-7 was dealt more than any other hand. Some say it was
incorrectly listed as the median hand in a flawed simulation. If you list
the 169 starting Hold'em hands by heads-up strength vs. a random hand, J-4
suited is the one in the middle. If you're looking for the hand that is
closest to even money heads-up the answer is J-5 suited with 49.99% equity
(Q-7 offsuit is 51.77%). The hand that wins closest to its share in a
random 10-handed showdown is is 6-3 suited (Q-7 offsuit is near the bottom
with 8.015% win share).

"pokerchimp" opined:

"one of the first computer simulations of Hold Em found the Q7os

Not really.

There used to be a dealer in Vicksburg who always maintained this same
"fact." A surprisingly large number of players believed it and repeated it.

When questioned about the illogic of such a hand being the "winningest,"
the tune would sometimes change and it would be stated that the computer
study actually showed that these two cards were the ones most likely to come
on the flop. This is a little like saying that the people who think the
moon is made of woofle dust are wrong because everyone "knows" it is made of
green cheese.

This same dealer would often point out that an all-in hand, "wins 88% of the
time." This "fact," too, is often repeated. Oy vay.

In limit holdem, it is definitely AA, and it is not even close. T8
suited is a marginal hand that is only slightly profitable even under
the best conditions.

In deep money no-limit, since bad players lose a lot by overplaying
overpairs after the flop, it is quite possible that in games with many
bad players AA would not be the winningest hand. But AA would
definitely be the winningest hand in better-played games.

Even bad players win a great deal of the time with AA. Mostly, they'll
win because they don't fold it, and it holds up a good amount of the
time.

It's AA according to this simulation/starting hand ranking.

Hell son everyone in the know knows the Royal Arlo is the big money winner
followed by the plan old Arlo.
Don't be confused by those low payoff hands like Aces that win many times but
make little when they do win and cost you a bundle when they get beat.
Overall the Royal Arlo and the Arlo are the best money percentage hands in all
of no limit holdem poker when yoou know how to play them and of course pay your
dues on time each month.
