Poker rooms in MontrealCan't Post

Hi all,

Could someone indicate me where there are poker rooms in Montreal?
I know only of the big casino there but I don't know that they have a
poker room there.

Thanks for your help.

PS: Also if someone knows Isabelle Mercier address, that would be even
better ;-)

As far as I know, still no casino poker in Quebec - stuck in neutral
somewhere between the gaming guys and the provincial government. You'll
have to hunting for private rooms.

I don't believe that Quebec has poker in any of it's casinos. YMMV.

To my knowledge there is no poker in Quebec.  The closest poker room would be at
Akwesasne Mohawk Casino, about 15 miles outside of Malone, NY. Players from both
Ontario and Quebec wind up there.

<sniff> I used to. Then they made their only decent tournament into a bingo
(10k chips, but the starting blinds were 25/50 - now moved to 100/200 w/o any
change in the level timing).

OK...the $1/$2 cash game was fun - but they dropped it.

Fine...the $2/$5 cash game, $200 buy-in cap was fun - but then they bumped
the max. buy-in to $500 - so if you can't afford to show up with $1k you
can really afford the the game anymore. Someday I hope I have enough
poker bankroll to try it again, but for now it's just out of my price
range. If you can afford it though, the Thursday night cash game can be a
great time.

Re: Poker rooms in Montreal [In reply to]Can't Post

Really...I haven't played there since late April/early May.  It's about a 2 1/2
hour drive for me, so I have to have some motivation.

I always considered the Saturday tournament a crapshoot because of the rapidly
increasing blind structure and the randomly enforced rule that you had to bet
twice the blind on the flop, turn, and river.

I'm actually glad to hear they've upped the buy in for the 2-5 game...If it's
still as soft as I remember I may have to get up there sometime.  Is the $500 a
min-max or is the min still $200?

How often were you there?

I've been about 6 times in the last year. I played my first live tourney
on vacation in San Diego, and the only thing close to me is the Mohawk
Casino once I'm home. I enjoyed the tourney and managed to finish 11th
twice in a row...10 paid. Killing the $1/$2 game softened the blow.

Convinced my brother to go down in the spring and there were no $25 chips.
"Oh ya, blinds are 100/200 to start now." Great. Then we go to play live -
and it's $2/$5 only. Even with the $200 max. we didn't have enough for a
full buy-in each - his first time in a casino, he got wiped out - but with
my good night the bankroll was +$10 even after the tourney buy-ins. Sweet.

Went back two weeks ago, first time on a weekend, figuring the $2/$5 would
be rocking on Labour Day weekend. They had something like five $2/$5
going, and two more $2/$4 Limit. Sweet! Waiting for seat, I'm watching a
table were there are multiple stacks in the $1k range and I'm thinking
"holy smokes...wonder who's been losiing?" Sat down, bought in for $200
among a bunch of bigger stacks. Can't operate 'cause it's "raise re-raise"
all the time - then see someone buy-in for $400. "Did they put the buy-in
up?" Oh, ya, it's $500 now.

Perfect...me with $350 to play what I thought was a $200 max buy-in
game...and I'm short even if I put it all on the table. If ever have
enough to show up with $1k I'll go back anytime - but w/o that, you just
can't hope to ride out the swings to get your share. If you can afford
it, and you can get there on a long weekend, I'd highly recommend it.

Just might have to do that.   My only other option is the 4 hr drive to
Foxwoods.  Their 2-5 game is pretty fun also.  Thanks for the info
