Party Software slows my usually fast computerCan't Post

Anyone else having trouble with party's new software?  I have a relatively new
machine:  AMD Athlon 64 3000+ processor, 1GB of RAM, Raptor HD....I mean this
thing should by no means be as slow as it is when party is running.  The older
software worked fine, and pretty much all other software works very quickly.

Anyone have any ideas?  Is this because of my AMD (rather than Intel)?  Could it
be because of my cheapie video card?

Video card may indeed have something to do with it.  I really doubt it's the AMD
chip vs. Intel.  I would suggest you run some benchmark testing to trouble shoot
any problem areas your pc may have.  Check out http://pcpitstop.com/
This site has always provided back very accurate data on my pc's performance
ability.

Good luck

Thanks for the response....I ran the benchmark you suggested and I got an
"excellent" rating, with no problems in the CPU or video department.  Like I
said, everything else works pretty flawlessly and is very fast.

Anyone else have any suggestions or maybe had similar experience with the new
software party put out?  I hate not being able to multi-table

Re: Party Software slows my usually fast computer [In reply to]Can't Post

I have ALL kinds of problems with their software. Here's a few, in no
particular order:

1) Lobby refreshes SUCK (especially annoying when trying to join SNG's)
2) When in a multi:
2a) if you pre-register, you may or may not be auto moved to your table.
2b) While in the tournament, your table closes, BUT you can't move to your
new table!!!!
2c) Sometimes, when you move tables, the freaking action buttons don't
appear, and your folded! (Sucks if you have AA)
3) When you go to look at transactions (deposits and withdrawals) the
freaking program just closes!
4) Sometimes the FREAKING program just CLOSES!!!!!
5) and finally, the GODDAMN program locks up reliably if I leave it open
too long! For example, I leave it on overnight, next day, guarantee it
will freeze!!!!!!

PARTY SUCKS!

It's your AMD processor slowing you down.

Sometimes the program will not log me out when I try to close for the day.

Re: Party Software slows my usually fast computer [In reply to]Can't Post

One of the biggest problems I have with Party Poker is when I first
join a table. When I first join a table my mouse almost locks up, it
moves around the screen in jumps, rather than a smooth motion. I admit
my computer is not the best, but it should be able to handle a game
like Party Poker just fine.

AMD Athlon 1900+ (1.6 GHz)
1 GB RAM
GeForce FX 5600

It runs all the other poker software fine and it even runs some high
end games just fine also. PP should not be a problem, but it is.

Re: Party Software slows my usually fast computer [In reply to]Can't Post

Party poker software can slow any machine to a crawl where the mouse
pointer won't even move without jumping around and sticking

There is obviously something very wrong with it,
A huge resource leak or some of a thing.

It usually happens when you're opening a table
Your hardware it is fine and alright

Chicago area poker rooms? [In reply to]Can't Post

2nd try...

Any opinions/advice on Hollywood Aurora west of downtown Chicago?

I'm interested in $5/$10 LHE (or similar).

Just a quick followup:  I recently replaced my POS video card with a ATI chipset
based card and wouldn't ya know it: the problem resolved.

I still maintain that PP sucks.  Unfortunately I like the higher stakes stud
they have there.
